Ruth’s House looking to expand Supportive Housing and launch Rapid Rehousing

April 9, 2019

Ruth’s House is hoping to expand its partnership with Northfield’s HRA (Housing and Redevelopment Association) and HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development). The proposal to Northfield’s HRA is for Ruth’s House to manage two rental properties that would become part of Ruth’s House long-term, permanent, supportive housing for families struggling to find stable shelter. Ruth’s House currently manages nine such properties. Tenants help with the rent and Ruth’s House provides on-site support.

A new program–Rapid Rehousing–would be dependent upon receiving a HUD grant that would provide rental assistance for about six months for victims of domestic abuse who are self-sufficient, but lack housing. The goal would be to stabilize the family so that they could take over the lease and become independent from the program.
