Ruth Hickey Stepping Down as Executive Director of Ruth’s House

February 14, 2020

It has been amazing what we have accomplished with your help since we’ve opened our doors 16 years ago! I have never been more excited about what’s to come as we continue to work in our community for the success of the mission of Ruth’s House and more importantly the success of the individuals we serve.

As many of you know, we hosted our 17th annual Gala on February 8th which happened to coincide with my 60th birthday. I am grateful for your support in celebrating that significant milestone in our organization and with me. We will be sharing more on the Gala with you in the coming days, but I’m here today to share a different announcement.

As of February 17th, 2020, I am stepping down from my position as Executive Director.  I am looking forward to spending more time with my husband, Herb, who has supported me in the mission of Ruth’s House since its birth in 2003. I also look forward to spending time with the rest of my family including our six grandchildren. I have a deep passion for the ministry of Ruth’s House, the residents we serve and our supportive community.

I will continue to support the mission of Ruth’s House as a consultant in an advisory role for Ruth’s House and as a community supporter. It has been an honor to serve the families and individuals who resided at Ruth’s House. We have provided safe shelter, food, and resources for over 1800 individuals since opening. It has been a great joy and privilege serving our community and partnering with you to provide a safe and compassionate space for women and children in need.

Ruth’s House Board of Directors have found the new Executive Director, Suzzanne Fox. Suzzanne will be taking over in her new position as Executive Director on February 18th,2020. Suzzanne has been employed at Ruth’s House for close to five years.   She brings with her a background of over 20 years of experience and knowledge working in non-profit missions including agencies that provide shelter to those who need it most. Please join me in welcoming her to her new role. She will continue to lead  Ruth’s House vision: A community where everyone has a safe place to call home and is dedicated to fulfilling Ruth’s House mission: Empowering lives offering hope through Transitional housing and support.

You have given your time, talents and resources so generously to help your neighbors in need; offering a safe place to call home. You have made a difference in those lives. Our community is forever changed because of you. Thank you again. God bless you and your family.
With gratitude and faith,

Ruth Hickey, Executive Director
