Sarah’s House Frequently Asked Questions
How can I apply?+–
You can apply for Sarah’s House here. After your application is received the Program Director or Case Manager will reach out.
Who can live at Sarah's House?+–
Sarah’s House is for women recovering from substance use disorder and is intended to provide a supportive living environment while women transition into the community. Residents must be sober for at least 30 days prior to moving in.
What is the sober deposit?+–
- Residents are required to pay a $200 sober deposit on the day they move in
- The Northfield Community Action Center (CAC) is an organization that provides housing assistance as well as other services. If residents need help paying for their sober deposit, the Northfield CAC may be able to help: http://communityactioncenter.org/get-help/
Can my children stay?+–
At this time, our program accommodates single women only.
Are pets allowed?+–
We follow ADA guidelines for service animals. Non-Service animals are not allowed. Find out more information about ADA Guidelines: https://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-2010-requirements/#top
Can I have visitors?+–
Caseworkers, social workers, and other professionals are the only visitors allowed. Residents are free to visit friends and family outside of the house.
How long can I stay?+–
We ask that residents stay at Sarah’s House for a minimum of three months. Residents can stay up to two years, but the average length of stay is 4-6 months.
Can I store my belongings?+–
We follow a “two suitcase policy” at Sarah’s House, and ask that residents limit their belongings to the equivalent of two suitcases. Storage of extra belongings needs to be arranged prior to moving in.
What is provided at the house?+–
Sarah’s House is fully furnished and provides dishes, cooking utensils, coffee, Wi-Fi access, laundry and cleaning supplies, and bedding.
