Resident Stories: Jessie’s Story
December 30, 2016
I moved into Ruth’s House in April 2007. Before I came to Ruth’s House, I was living with my husband. Things turned physical the weekend before I moved into Ruth’s House.
While at Ruth’s House I learned that I wasn’t the only one that had been in a domestic violence situation or had children with special needs.
Ruth’s House helped me get on the right track to where I wanted to be and where I am today. The staff members were willing to help me with parenting issues that I was having, and always willing to listen when I just needed someone to talk to. Even after I moved out they were a resource for me to come back to when I needed it.
Without Ruth’s House I would probably still be living with my now ex-husband. I also went back to college. It is June 2010 and I am doing my internship at Ruth’s House and will be graduating from college with my Associates of Applied Science Degree in Administrative Assistant in July 2010. I am giving back to them at what one time they gave me.
