Past Volunteer Spotlights

Lynn Aube

volunteer of the month photo

"A rock in our organization" - this is what Ruth Hickey, Executive Director, has to say about Lynn Aube, our volunteer spotlight for March. We couldn't agree more! Lynn is a Front Desk Receptionist on Tuesday mornings at Ruth's House. She answers the phone and door, gets supplies for the residents, puts away donations, and much more so that staff can spend more time providing direct services to our residents. A beautiful person, inside and out, she even makes an appearance in our latest Repair Needs video found at the bottom of our homepage: https://ruthshousemn.org/

Lynn writes: I learned about Ruth’s House from my nephew's wife who was working at Ruth’s House at the time. I started volunteering for just a few hours while I was still working my full time job, now that I am retired I like to volunteer to “give back” and I know the work done at Ruth’s House is very important.

Thank you Lynn, for all you do for Ruth's House!

Sue Rodman

Sue Rodman is our volunteer spotlight this month. We are so happy that she dedicates some of her time and talents to Ruth's House! Sue has jumped right in, whether it's helping out with childcare, joining the gala committee as our decorating lead, or signing up to sing with us and the St. Olaf Manitou Choir. We love her positive, go get 'em attitude!

Sue writes: I am a newly retired elementary school teacher who finally has the freedom to travel, volunteer, and spend more time with my family. I am thrilled to be able to visit my daughters and their families in Houston and Washington, D.C. Being available to be the “granny nanny” when needed is pure bliss. I am finally able to “tag along” when my husband travels to fun places like Florida during Minnesota winters.

As an educator my heart has always been dedicated to children and their families. The stability, comfort, and inclusiveness that Ruth’s House provides for women and their children are missions I value and continue to support. I am very thankful to be a part of this wonderful organization.

Remy Lloyd

Remy Lloyd is our volunteer spotlight this month. She is a long term childcare volunteer at Ruth's House. The kids love to hang out with her! She supports our mission and provides a wonderful service to the moms and kids at the house. She surely makes a difference!

Remy shares:
I'm currently a junior at Faribault High School. I play soccer and run track. I'm involved in Science Team, Math team, Student Council, and Honor Society. I've volunteered at Ruth's House since last spring but had to decrease my hours because of sports and activities. I'm very excited to get back into the swing of things!

I volunteer at Ruth's house to give back to and make a difference in this community.

My mom is a daycare provider, so I've always been around younger children. When I heard about the opportunity to volunteer at Ruth's House I was ecstatic; it was a great chance for me to get out into the community and help others. It's so much fun to see the kids grow up over the time that I've been there. They have truly made a difference in my life and the way I look at the world!
