Part Time Evening Family Advocate
Family Advocates- Weekend and Overnight availability
PT Family Advocates+–
Ruth’s House is hiring for overnight sleeping Family Advocates 11pm-7am, and weekend family advocates 7am-3pm and 3pm-11pm. This is flexible on what nights and what weekend days for the right candidate.
Who We Are
Ruth’s House provides transitional shelter and support for women and children in crisis. Domestic violence, poverty, addiction, health challenges, or other issues can lead to homelessness or feeling unsafe in one’s home. Ruth’s House mission is Empowering lives, offering hope through transitional housing and support.

Typical Day in the Life
A typical shift as a Family Advocate might include the following
- Getting resident supplies from the basement
- Playing peek-a-boo with a child
- Have lunch with a resident
- Answer the phone
- Help the resident fill out necessary paperwork
- Listen to a resident share their store
- Light housekeeping
- Recording donations
- Maintaining safety in the house
- Models healthy communication

PT Evening Family Advocate+–
Evening Family Advocate I- Job Description:
The Evening Family Advocate plays an important role at Ruth’s House. This position requires someone who is the Lead Family Advocate’s go-to person. This person must be dependable and trustworthy and is expected to fulfill all of the Family Advocate duties with an extraordinary degree of skill, and dependability, and be competent and consistent in everything they do. This position needs to have clear and appropriate communication with the Program Director when situations arise with residents or other staff. EFA must make and keep professional boundaries with residents, knowing that they also need to inform the Program Director of any concerns or issues that the residents may have.
Scheduling:
Evening Family Advocate will work, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3 pm to 11 pm every week.
Work Requirements:
- Maintain strong daily communication with the Lead Family Advocate.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply proper behavior management skills and model them for residents and be able to communicate these skills with a clear understanding.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions relative to accident and incident reports/investigations and the reporting of injury or special incidents. Must communicate with the Lead Family Advocate and the Program Director if necessary.
- Must possess a level of maturity that includes the ability to avoid association with gossip.
- Ability to demonstrate their willingness to adjust their schedule for the needs of the agency.
Essential Functions of a FLA:
- Must be able to work with the Lead Family Advocate.
- Must get along with a diverse group of people (residents and staff).
- Must demonstrate the ability to make appropriate decisions. This position is a role model for residents and other staff
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
- Complete daily room inspections of the resident’s room, noting anything unusual and then communicating that to the Lead Family Advocate.
- Create weekly activities that the women could participate in/including the Virtues Project.
- Perform all other duties assigned by the Program Director.
Food Service Handler:
- Complete food service training yearly (if necessary).
- Ensure the kitchen, refrigerator, and freezers are clean.
- Take the temperature in the upstairs and downstairs freezers daily.
Minimum Requirements
- Skilled and knowledgeable with Google Suites.
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to pass background checks.
- Ability to lift 20-25 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license
- Highschool Graduate
